She Kills Monsters

Written by Qui Nguyen
A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. “A heart-pounding, hilarious, emotional ride celebrating the warrior (and the nerd) within us all.” – DC Metro Theater Arts

Saturday, June 11, 2022 – THE INHERITANCE by Matthew Lopez, produced by Dan Grogan; doors open at 6pm, reading at 7pm

Matthew Lopez’ epic play, The Inheritance reimagines E.M. Forster’s Howard’s End as a contemporary portrait of New York’s gay community. A generation after the height of the AIDS crisis, the play explores what it is like to be a young gay man in New York. What does the current generation owe to its forebears? At the center of the play stands Eric Glass, around whom characters swirl in and out of love, apartments, and arguments. The Inheritance addresses serious questions about sexual identity as well as asking what the gay community has lost, and also gained, in the last twenty years.

What’s going on in the COB black box theater space and the rehearsal room at VAPA Center in spring and summer 2025??

Hamilton Audition written by Susan Lambert

A non-black director casting an all-female production of Hamilton doesn’t know enough black women to fill the cast. And a black gospel singer, who is not an actress, has a few questions for her about the Tony Award winning show.

The Job Interview written by Don Zolidis

Interviewing for a new job is never easy. It's especially awful when you're called in to interview alongside your competition. It's even more anxiety-inducing when the job you are interviewing for has been known to demolish the spirits of those who have worked there - at a certain establishment that specializes in the construction of stuffed animals.

Meet & Greet by Stan Zimmerman & Christian McLaughlin

From the writers of “Golden Girls” & “Married… With Children”

Four aging TV divas are all up for the same lead in a new sitcom. When they encounter each other at the network casting office, old rivalries come to the surface, egos clash, and a shocking revelation forces them to question their entire existence. “Non-stop laughter. Co-writers Zimmerman and McLaughlin skewer today’s Hollywood - with in joke after in-joke, though none of them so “in” as to fly over the head.  All of this makes for some delectable scene stealing with all five Meet & Greet stars equally guilty of stage larceny. Meet & Greet keeps audiences in stitches from its outrageously hilarious start to its devilishly funny finish.”- Steven Stanley, StageScene LA
